A Max Steiner suite, peut-etre? There used to be a heading at the top of the site featuring great film composers- Alfred Newman, Andrew Powell, Basil Poledouris, Bernard Herrmann, The Bernsteins, Ennio Morricone, Franz Waxman, Yared, Maurice Jarre, Miklos Rozsa... Now I'm expecting next week to see another Danny Elfman (ugh) in Mission Impossible 2, followed by Mission Impossible 3, and whatever number we're at now. I remember a long time ago listening to the soundtrack to Steiner's King Kong and being transfixed- it was moody, atmospheric, haunting. What does one get emotionally or intellectually from even a single listening of Danny Elfman? Thanks for letting me fulminate; last time, I promise.
